Microsoft is making the Copilot experience entirely voice-controlled in the Windows operating system. In addition to the previously announced “Hey, Copilot” wake-up call, which allows users to activate Copilot by voice, a new voice command is being added to end the interaction. The company allows users to manage their sessions with the AI assistant completely hands-free.
Microsoft is improving the Copilot experience
Microsoft is implementing this new feature with the “Bye, Copilot” command. According to details in the Microsoft 365 Roadmap (ID 529864), users will simply say goodbye to their voice session in Windows to end the session.
This transforms the voice interaction, which previously began with “Hey, Copilot,” into a fully voice-based experience, even when ending it. With this update, users can turn Copilot on and off with voice commands, ensuring seamless hands-free operation.
This significant update is not limited to PCs with Copilot+. On the contrary, all Windows 11 users, as well as select Windows 10 users, now have access to this hands-free experience. This demonstrates that the feature has reached a very broad user base.
The preview of the feature is planned to be available in November 2025, but there’s no official announcement yet. General availability is expected to begin next month. However, Microsoft’s statements indicate that the timing is subject to change.
